Come Meet the Author!

EXCITING NEWS!!

Author Stacey Kade will be visiting the High School THIS Friday, October 2nd and would love to speak to our BHS Book Club (and all those who are interested in our book club or meeting and speaking with a published author). This visit will take place in room E371 immediately after school.

As an award-winning corporate copywriter, Stacey Kade has written about everything from backhoe loaders to bandages. But she prefers to make things up instead.

Her first young adult novel, The Ghost and The Goth, will be released from Disney-Hyperion Books in June 2010. She also writes science fiction romance as Stacey Klemstein.

Stacey lives in the Chicago suburbs with her husband, Greg, and their three retired racing greyhounds. When she’s not reading or writing, you’ll likely find her parked in front of the television with her Roswell DVDs, staring rapturously at Jason Behr.

Katniss is a 16-year-old girl living with her mother and younger sister in the poorest district of Panem, the remains of what used be the United States. Long ago the districts waged war on the Capitol and were defeated. As part of the surrender terms, each district agreed to send one boy and one girl to appear in an annual televised event called, "The Hunger Games." The terrain, rules, and level of audience participation may change but one thing is constant: kill or be killed. When Kat's sister is chosen by lottery, Kat steps up to go in her place.

Hunger Games

On her way home from school on a snowy December day in 1973, 14-year-old Susie Salmon ("like the fish") is lured into a makeshift underground den in a cornfield and brutally raped and murdered, the latest victim of a serial killer--the man she knew as her neighbor, Mr. Harvey. Alice Sebold's haunting and heartbreaking debut novel, The Lovely Bones, unfolds from heaven, where "life is a perpetual yesterday" and where Susie narrates and keeps watch over her grieving family and friends, as well as her brazen killer and the sad detective working on her case.
